Home visitation has been identified through continuing research as an effective tool for preventing child maltreatment, as well as other poor outcomes for children.
Parent Aides serve as professionally trained home visitors who work one-on-one with families. Parent Aides teach parents to be more loving and attentive to the needs of their children. Our main objectives are to reduce the harmful effects of family crises, to provide appropriate alternatives for conflict resolution, to increase knowledge of ages/stages of child growth and development and of age appropriate community support resources and increase client participation, and to reduce the need for out-of-home placement of children.
The Parent Aide Program targets parents who are experiencing difficulties in their parenting roles and need supportive assistance. There are no income requirements in order to participate in the program. Our in-home visitors provide support and crisis intervention.
The Midlands Effective Parenting Partnership (MEPP) is a collaboration between ParentingPartners, The Nurturing Center, Lexington Richland Alcohol and Drug Council and Sistercare. The program addresses the multiple needs of vulnerable families, with children five years and under, that have a history of child abuse and neglect as well as issues of substance abuse and/or domestic violence.
Intensive Parent and Child Interaction Training (IMPACT): IMPACT provides intensive, in-home crisis intervention, counseling and life-skills education for families who have children at imminent risk of placement in state-funded care. Program accepts only families referred by the state. The goal is to remove the risk of harm to the child instead of removing the child and it gives families the chance to learn behaviors, and helps them make better choices for their children.
Parent-2-Parent Connection: This is a variety of classes/programs especially formed to fit specific needs of various issues.
- Fathers-4-Life Enrichment Program: Provides an opportunity for fathers to join together to encourage and support each other while learning to be responsible parents. The mission is to inform fathers of the importance of staying active in their children's lives through programs that provide guidance, love and support to enhance development and growth in their children.
- Active Parenting Now: Helps participants learn how to avoid power struggles and master skills for developing cooperation, responsibility, courage and self-esteem in their children.
- Developing Nurturing Parenting Skills: Allows participants to learn new parenting skills that will help the entire family. These skills will provide healthier ways to resolve conflict within the family and provide nurturing skills for the parents.

You will discover ways to manage conflicts and improve communication between the parents so that both parents can focus on what's really important: the happiness and well-being of the child.
